Gridders big part of All-Metro, All-KNG team

The Bainbridge football team had a thriller of a 2010 season.

Four of its 10 games were decided by seven points or less. The Spartans won three of them to help propel them to a second straight district playoff appearance.

For their efforts this season, 10 Spartans made the All-Metro Mountain Division team.

Carson Zajonic was a second team selection at safety and a honorable mention at cornerback. Alex Coplan was a second team selection at cornerback, while Connor Kenyon was a honorable mention at defensive end.

Eight Spartans also made the All-Kitsap News Group football team for the 2010 season.

The team was compiled by the sports writers for the Bainbridge Island Review, Bremerton Patriot, Central Kitsap Reporter, North Kitsap Herald and the Port Orchard Independent. Candidates for the team are nominated by the writers for their respective areas.

The nominees are then voted on by the writers; the top players make the teams. Two honorable mentions are also selected from each school for each sport.

The teams include the best players from area schools that not only performed well individually, but played a role in the success of their team.
