KENT – There was nothing cold at all about the Bainbridge Island Boys Gymnastics Club at Dec. 6’s Cold Turkey 2014 Metropolitan Gymnastics meet. The Bainbridge boys deep-fried their competition in their season debut, and snagged top spots for both Levels 4 and 5.

Fierce competition was brought to the mats from teams that included Emerald City, Advantage, Mount Baker Gymnastics, SGA, Columbia City, Rising Stars, Metropolitan, and Cascade Elite.

Level 4 (age division 7-8) began heating things up when Dashiell Gann nailed first on rings and second on high bar.

In the 9-10 age group, first-timers Jayden Wood–Johnson and Jacob Hall dazzled the crowd. Jayden owned the parallel bars with a first-place victory and Jacob came in a solid 2nd in both the Vault and the high bar.

Mace Korytko beat out the rest of the 11-year-old-and-up field, and claimed firsts on vault, pommel horse and high bar and captured gold in the all-around.

Level 5 gymnasts kept up with the heat as veteran Leo Uyekawa seared the other competitors and seized first place with personal best scores on floor, parallel bars and high bar to become the gold medalist in the all-around for the 9-10 age group.

Crowd-pleaser Owen Scheer didn’t disappoint, and snagged firsts on pommel and vault and finished with a bronze medal in the all-around.  Jack Elkstrand started his season off with a bang with two third-place finishes on floor and parallel bars for a solid fourth place finish overall.

In the 11-and-up age group, newly-minted level fiver Aiden Cretarola seemed to fly through the air with the greatest of ease and nailed firsts on vault, parallel bars and high bar, landing the gold with a stunning score of 61.3 in the all-around, and led the Level 5 team to overall victory.

Level 6 teammates Kiernan Liberman and Abe Muldrow kept the fires burning. Standout Kiernan snagged sterling seconds on vault, parallel bars and high bar. Abe came on strong and landed a third place on parallel bars to help the Level 6 team win the bronze.
