Issaquah outlasts BHS in boys LAX

Issaquah handed the Bainbridge High varsity boys lacrosse team its first loss of the year, smudging an otherwise perfect record with 12-4 defeat on the road.

MERCER ISLAND – Issaquah handed the Bainbridge High varsity boys lacrosse team its first loss of the year Saturday, April 2, smudging an otherwise perfect record with 12-4 defeat on the road.

The Eagles, who dropped a hard-fought 9–6 decision on Friday to Lakeridge High School — the 2015 Oregon state runner-up — got behind four Ryan Egland points to jump all over the Spartans from the opening face-off.

Putting up six in the first and then adding three more in the second to take a 9–4 lead at the half, Issaquah put the Spartans on their heels early on.

In the second half, the Eagles tightened up their defense backed by shutout lacrosse from goaltender Jordan Dondoyano as his attack dropped three unanswered scores on the Spartans to secure their fifth win of the spring.

The Northwest Invitational on Mercer Island, which concluded Sunday, included 19 of the top high school lacrosse teams from Washington, Oregon, Montana, Nevada and British Columbia.
