Mackin leads Bainbridge to win against Klahowya in lacrosse

No matter when or where, teams are falling by a double-digit margin.

Bainbridge Island beat Klahowya 22-6 Monday — the third win in a row that the Spartans have posted 22 against an opponent. (Bainbridge stymied Stadium, 22-6, on April 25 and crushed Curtis 22-3 on April 23.)

In the win against Klahowya, Kelsey Mackin scored seven goals and added three assists.

Olivia Smith also netted six goals for the first-place Spartans, and Theodosia Fehsenfeld added four. Madeline Stevenson had five saves in goal.

Jacky Hennegan, Sammy Borson, Jessica Haga and Anna Robinson all scored for the Eagles. Sheri McCarty had 12 saves in goal for Klahowya.

Bainbridge is 9-1-1 as the team enters the final week of regular season play.

BHS next faces North Kitsap (2-9-0) in its final regular season game, Wednesday, May 2, and its also Senior Night. The game starts at 7:45 p.m. at Bainbridge Stadium.

The Spartans are currently ranked No. 1 in the state by ESPN HS, and two players are ranked in the top 25.

Mackin is ranked at No. 3, and Smith is at No. 22.
