The Bainbridge Spartans swimming & diving team qualified another two divers for the state 3A championships following the 11 Dive Qualifier on Saturday at the Bainbridge Aquatic Center.
“Henry Sauermann and Guy Weibel both punched their tickets on Saturday. These guys dove lights out and scored with .3 of each other,” noted Spartan Head Coach Kaycee Taylor.
Kiernan Liberman and Brian Taylor will also compete in the state championships.
At last week’s 11 Dive Qualifier, Liberman set a new pool and team record for 11 dives with an impressive finals score of 518.85.
“The 3A state record is a 530.53, so he is approaching that score and has a few more meets before state to keep working on his amazing list,” Coach Taylor said.
Sauermann finished with a finals score of 344.85 at the qualifier, while Weibel totalled 334.55.
The Spartan coach also noted an impressive accomplishment by standout swimmer Jude Wenker: a return to the state meet with a chance to participate in every race.
“Wenker has again accomplished a feat only a handful of Spartans have by qualifying in all individual events (expect diving) this year. The title of Iron Man certainly fits and is well deserved,” Taylor added.
