The North Kitsap High School boys tennis team took care of the Bainbridge Spartans 6-1 Sept. 7.
Bainbridge came into the match with many new faces while the Vikings saw their depth display its power.
NK’s Indigo Gallagher-Zapf faced Bainbridge’s Garner Hall in No. 1 singles. Gallagher-Zapf took an early lead in the first set before dropping a game. However, the Vikings dominated with a 6-1 victory. Gallagher-Zapf kept the momentum rolling in the second set with a 6-0 sweep.
NK’s Dayshawn Harper did not allow a single point against him when he faced Bainbridge’s Sam King, winning 6-0, 6-0. NK’s Kaiden Lancaster battled Bainbridge’s Austin Williams and controlled the first set 6-0. However, he dropped a few games before winning the second set 6-3.
Bainbridge’s lone win came from the top doubles squad. Aidan McLennan and Charlie Combs faced Vikings Grady DeVries and Spencer Gillespie. Although the games were close, Bainbridge won 6-2, 6-3.
NK’s Mason Chmielewski and Owen Wilkinson had an impressive performance, winning 6-0, 6-0 against Jasper Wittencarr and Brodie Lawrence.
Vikings Justin Gallant and Mason Repp handled Bainbridge’s Milo Quirindongo and Lincoln Figgins 6-1, 6-1.
Bainbridge’s final duo included London Matcho and Jaxon Maggio. They faced NK’s Matthew Tan and Aiden Reister and lost 6-1, 6-1 despite winning both of the first games.
