Central Kitsap 46, South Kitsap 20

These two teams haven’t played one another since 2015, but they put on a good show for those watching the action in Port Orchard live from their homes.

The Cougars and the Wolves went score-for-score for much of the first half, but Central Kitsap pulled away down the stretch to get back to .500 on the season.

Kouper Hall opened the scoring in the first quarter with a 13-yard touchdown run, but South Kitsap quarterback Rylen Bayne answered quickly with a 42-yard scoring pass to Keel Slayback. The Cougars went right back down the field and capped another scoring drive with a 43-yard touchdown from Kalai Pasi to Aiden Williamson, but Devin Easley was up to the task, scoring on a 15-yard run to tie the game at 14 late in the first quarter.

Matthew Willis and Josh Willis both converted on short touchdown runs in the second quarter for Central Kitsap, and Bayne connected with Slayback on a 34-yard touchdown for South Kitsap to cut the Wolves’ deficit to 26-20. Pasi tossed his second TD of the game, this one a 14-yard pass to Chandler Lindstrom, just before the end of the half.

Hall and Joshua Willis both finished with over 100 yards rushing for Central Kitsap. Bayne finished the game with over 250 yards passing for South Kitsap.

Bainbridge 34, Olympic 28

Cal Breen’s 80-yard touchdown run with three minutes to go in the fourth quarter was the breakthrough Bainbridge needed, as it proved to be the game-winning score that improved its record to 2-1 on the season. Gabriel Todd threw for 288 yards and four touchdowns for the Spartans, who trailed the entire second half until that late score.

Todd tossed early touchdowns to Breen and Luke Lavigne, but Olympic scored three times in the second quarter behind the fierce running of Trent Feistner, who finished with 157 yards and two touchdowns. Feistner also returned the opening kickoff of the second half for a touchdown to give the Trojans a 28-20 lead.

But Todd struck back late in the third quarter with a 9-yard touchdown to Alan Ullin.

Breen finished with six receptions for 134 yards and two touchdowns, and also rushed for 41 yards. Luke Lavigne had three receptions for 50 yards.

Klahowya 13, North Mason 7

Jacob Manavie came up with a pick-six late in the fourth quarter to propel the Eagles over North Mason in Belfair. Manavie also caught a 31-yard pass from quarterback Damon Clarke just before the end of the first half to tie the game at 7. Manavie finished with three receptions for 49 yards. Hunter Wallis led Klahowya with 55 yards rushing to go with five receptions for 25 yards.

Bremerton 63, Shelton 16

The Knights ran roughshod over Shelton, racking up over 500 yards. Senior running back Ahmir Paden had 228 rushing yards and five touchdowns on eight carries. Trent Lewis rushed for 120 yards and a score. Kelo Logova completed 5 of 8 passes for 141 yards and two TDs. Kimo Retome had three receptions for 95 yards and a touchdown and added a second score on the ground.

North Kitsap 28, Sequim 0

The Vikings blanked a short-handed Sequim squad to move to 2-0. QB Colton Bower completed 17-of-20 passes for 215 yards and three touchdowns. Bower also added 77 yards on the groud. Tight end AJ Fitsemons was on the receiving end of all three scores.

South Kitsap JV 12, Kingston 6

The Bucs battled the JV Wolves in a defensive struggle, but fell to 0-2 Saturday. They will try to rebound this week against the combined teams from Port Townsend and Chimacum, known as East Jefferson. Kingston was well on its way to beating Port Townsend last season, leading 20-0 in the second quarter when lightning canceled the game.
