Sequim 27, South Kitsap 15
The last time these two teams met, the year was 1962 and Jerry Redmond was at the helm of the program. Sequim came out on top in this long-dormant matchup for the first time since 1959. After a scoreless first quarter, Sequim opened up a 13-0 lead, but South Kitsap answered with a 34-yard touchdown pass from Rylen Bayne to Jacob Nelson. But Sequim’s defense didn’t allow much until the fourth quarter. South Kitsap scored on a late safety and then Bayne tossed his second touchdown of the game, a 12-yard pass to Jayden Armstrong in the dying seconds of the game. South Kitsap gained plenty of yards against Sequim. Devin Easley rushed for 119 yards on 19 carries, and Benjamin Miller added 94 yards on 14 carries. Rylen Bayne threw for 108 yards and two touchdowns, and Jacob Nelson led the team in receiving yards with 52 on three receptions.
Bremerton 54, Port Angeles 0
It was another big day for the Knights, who are just rolling through their competition this season. Kelo Logova threw three TD passes, all to receiver Junior Newman. Logova also rushed for 95 yards and a score. Trent Lewis scored first for Bremerton on a 9-yard run, and the first of three Logova-Newman connections came just at the end of the first quarter to put the team up 14-0. By the time of Ahmir Paden’s 51-yard interception return, it was 41-0 and just before halftime, which triggered the running clock. Bremerton will host North Kitsap Saturday at 1 p.m.
Central Kitsap 35, Olympic 0
The Cougars were once again victorious in the Battle of Bucklin Hill Friday night. Joshua Willis rushed for 144 yards and a touchdown for CK and QB Kalai Pasi tossedfor three scores and threw for 221 yards. Trent Feistner rushed for 145 yards on 26 carries for Olympic.
Klahowya 22, Shelton 17
A late touchdown by Hunter Wallis lifted the Eagles to victory on Saturday afternoon at home, as the decisive score came with 4:18 to go with Klahowya trailing by a point. Wallis took a handoff to the right, cut through a seam, and sprinted through the Shelton defense for a 53-yard score. Wallis also caught a 51-yard pass from QB Damon Clarke in the third quarter. Jake Manavie had an interception return for a touchdown. The Eagles led 16-3 before Shelton came back to take a 17-16 lead in the fourth before Wallis’s big run.
North Kitsap 61, Bainbridge 8
Colton Bowerhad another big game for the Vikings with a combined five touchdowns and 199 yards passing and rushing. The Vikings scored all 61 points in the first half and played the second half with a running clock. Kelly Wanzek scored a pair of rushing touchdowns and had 70 yards on 15 carries. Seniors Skylar Keilbart and Jayden Howard also found the end zone on Senior Night. Lincoln Castillo and Jose Soria also scored for the Vikings. Bainbridge’s lone touchdown was an 11-yard pass from Gabriel Todd to Jack Mielke.
Kingston 12, East Jefferson 7
Lief Nelson’s scoop-and-score on an East Jefferson fumble was the difference as Kingston and coach Billy Russo picked up their respective first wins. QB Kyler Coe-Yarr threw a 16-yard TD to Cade Klaymore in the first quarter. Coe-Yarr had a total of 113 yards through the air and on the ground, and Klaymore had three receptions for 31 yards. Sam Reber led the Bucs with 16 carries for 43 yards.
