Seniors lead Spartans to second-place state finish in gymnastics

The Bainbridge Spartans placed second overall in the WIAA state 1A/2A/3A gymnastics championships Feb. 21 at Sammamish High School.

Bainbridge finished with a team score of 166.125 just behind first-place Ballard, which had 173.75 points.

The Spartans had eight gymnasts compete at state. Senior Jade Bereman secured top honors individually for the Spartans, placing fourth overall with a score of 35.575. She also placed 10th on bars.

Other notable Spartan performers included senior Grace Reeb who placed fifth on the balance beam and ninth in the floor exercise. Freshman Maya Jimenez placed 14th on the balance beam.

Bereman and senior Grace Reeb, sophomore Jacqui Beresford, and freshman Maya Jimenez all secured high scores in the meet.
