BAINBRIDGE – The Bainbridge varsity boys basketball team held their own and won a critical victory at home against the visiting Ingraham High team Friday, Jan. 10 with a final score of 58-42.

“After a slow and sloppy first half we settled down and showed glimpses of good basketball,” said Spartan Head Coach Scott Orness.

“Ingraham had a good game plan in running their 1-2-2 ¾ court trap to take us out of our offensive rhythm, as well as running a zone in the half court.”

The Spartans led 26-18 in the first half and continued to ramp up their offensive efforts in the second half, with 14 points in the third quarter and 18 in the fourth.

BHS senior guard Joey Blacker again dominated the team’s scoring efforts and tallied 18 points. He was the high scorer in the Metro matchup.

Junior wing/post Oskar Dieterich managed a resounding 13 points in the game, while junior guard Blake Swanson totaled 10 points and freshman guard/wing Lyle Terry finished the game with nine points.

“We shot the ball well, hitting 17-out-of-35 from twos and seven-out-of-17 from threes,” Orness said. “And the defense we have been able to count on game after game held Ingraham to 28 percent from the field.”
