Spartan sluggers pound Panthers

Home runs by Megan Spray and Malia Peato powered the Bainbridge Spartans to an 8-6 win over Seattle Prep in girls varsity fastpitch.

SEATTLE – Home runs by Megan Spray and Malia Peato powered the Bainbridge Spartans to an 8-6 win over Seattle Prep in girls varsity fastpitch.

It was a big come-from-behind win for Bainbridge.

The Spartans shot out to a four-run lead in the top of the first, but the Panthers came roaring back with six runs to lead, 6-4, in the opening inning.

Bainbridge added another run in the third, and two more in the fourth, to reclaim the lead for good.

Peato went 3-for-4 at the plate, with three RBIs and two runs.

Spray was also 3-for-4, and had a triple and five RBIs.

Fellow Spartan Maddie Loverich was 2-for-4 with one run.

Peato pitched six innings for the Spartans (two hits, no runs and five strikeouts) in the big road victory.

The victory pushed Bainbridge’s regular season record to 7-5 (5-3 Metro).
