Spartan wrestlers take down first 2 opponents

The Bainbridge Spartans boys wrestling team began the season recently with two dual wins over East Jefferson and Seattle Academy of Arts and Sciences.

The Spartans defeated East Jefferson 39-15 in its first meet. Both teams forfeited the 106-, 113-, 120- and 126-pound classes. However, the teams split the next four matches.

Spartan 132-pound Parker Kruglik won by forfeit while Wyatt Chabot defeated Manesh Ramirez in sudden victory 7-5. East Jefferson won the 138- and 145-pound classes as Grady White beat Tyler Dodge 6-1, and Ike Banks pinned Zane Turner.

The Spartans swept the rest of the weight classes. 170-pound Garret Goade and 285-pound Wyatt Goade won by pins while Michael Narte, Robert Cockburn and Matthew Grant won by forfeit.

In the second dual, Seattle Academy picked up 18 points in the light weights as Bainbridge forfeited the 106-, 113- and 120-pound classes. But the Spartans won the final 10 matches, including eight by fall.

The other two included Cockburn’s 11-3 major decision and Matthew Grant’s forfeit victory at the 220-pound weight class.
