The Bainbridge Spartans finished second at the recent 2A/3A West Central District Region 3 gymnastics meet, scoring 161.8 points. North Kitsap finished third with 160.525 points, while North Thurston won with 163.15.
Spartan Avery Gray finished second all-around with a combined score of 36.725, and Jade Bereman finished sixth with 35.625.
Viking Jordyn Lovett finished seventh all-around with 35.3, and Kelsey Durr was 11th with 33.475.
Both teams will be heading to the WIAA State Championships Feb. 23-25 at Sammamish High to compete individually and as a team.
The Spartans and Vikings shined the brightest in the balance beam. Gray and Bereman tied for first with a 9.45 and Liz Oliffe finished 11th with an 8.85. Lovett finished fourth with a 9.375.
The Spartan duo struck gold again in the floor exercise. Gray beat out Bereman with a 9.4 compared to a 9.375. Reeb also reached the podium with a seventh-place finish after scoring a 9.25.
Lovett finished sixth with a 9.30 and Derr was eighth with a 9.15.
Gray and Bereman led the Kitsap gymnasts in the vault, placing fourth and fifth with scores of 9.175 and 8.850. Grace Reeb rounded out the top Spartans with a 12th-place finish with an 8.50.
NK’s Alivia Palmer finished seventh with an 8.75 and Lovett tied for ninth with an 8.55.
Gray, Lovett and Bereman placed in the uneven bars, too. Gray captured fifth with an 8.7, Lovett finished sixth with an 8.075 and Bereman seventh with a 7.95. Viking Arabelle Miller finished 12th with a 7.15.
