The Bainbridge Spartans swimming & diving team nabbed second place in last weekend’s Kentridge Invitational.
Spartan Head Coach Kaycee Taylor said the Spartans amassed three new meet records, as well as plenty of state times and PRs.
Bainbridge started the meet with a first place in the 200-yard medley relay.
The fearless foursome of Garrett Waite, Kevin Houseman, Andrew Witty and Jude Wenker won in 1:35.55.
Two Spartan swimmers had outstanding showings in the 200-yard freestyle. Waite placed 10th in 1:47.72, while Sam Chapman claimed 14th place in 1:48.68.
Both Waite and Chapman had state championship qualifying times in the 200 free.
Witty swam to second place in the 200-yard individual medley with a state time of 1:58.11.
Tyler Stewart was third in the race for BHS (1:59.18) and teammate Ian Lipton was sixth (1:59.90).
Makai Ingalls placed second for Bainbridge in the 50-yard freestyle. He had a state-qualifying time of 21.82 in the event.
Aidan Wagner finished in 22.48 for 11th place.
In 1-meter diving, two Spartans had state-qualifying scores.
Kiernan Liberman placed fifth with a total of 415.20,while fellow Spartan
Brian Taylor was eighth with 364.50.
The Spartans notched strong performances in the 100-yard butterfly, with Chapman placing fifth (54.55) and Ben Cohen taking 15th (55.54).
Wenker won the 100-yard freestyle for the Spartans in 46.08.
Ingalls placed fifth in the race with 48.27, and Houseman was 12th in 49.36.
All three Spartans had state-qualifying marks in the event.
In the 500-yard freestyle, the Spartans again posted state times. Waite was eighth (4:54.74) and Stewart was 11th (4:56.14).
Bainbridge was also a fourth-place winner in the 200-yard freestyle relay.
The team of Witty, Houseman, Chapman and Wagner finished in 1:28.82, less than a second behind first-place winning Mercer Island.
The invitational also saw state times for the Spartans in the final three events.
Lipton placed sixth in the 100-yard backstroke in 53.76.
The Spartans dominated in the 100-yard breaststroke, with Houseman taking first in 54.35.
Wenker was third (59.10) and Hall was fifth (100.02).
Bainbridge also won the 400-yard freestyle relay.
Ingalls, Witty, Waite and Wenker were first in 3:07.61 — well in front of the state-qualifying time of 3:24.50.
Mercer Island won the meet with a team total of 687. Bainbridge followed with 664.
Curtis claimed third (423), followed by Kamiak (419) and Issaquah (313).
