SEATTLE – Bainbridge beat Bishop Blanchet 16-7 in girls varsity fastpitch late last week in the Spartans’ final game in the SeaKing District Tournament to advance to the state tournament this Friday.
Bainbridge is headed to State as the No. 3 seed from the SeaKing District by beating Bishop Blanchet, 16-7.
Despite a slow start by the Spartan offense and a hot start by Blanchet, Bainbridge rallied with 13 runs in the last four innings to overcome a 6-3 lead at the end of three innings.
A four-run fourth put the Spartans ahead for good. It was highlighted by a game-tying triple from Morgan Lassoff, who subsequently scored the go-ahead run on a single by Maddie Loverich.
Bainbridge put the game away with six runs in the fifth with a two-run single by Georgia Wood that started the scoring barrage. Kensey Baker, Lassoff and Malia Peato also drove in runs.
Peato picked up the win in the circle. After giving up six runs in the first three innings, she settled down and only allowed only one more run the rest of the way. She struck out 11 without walking a batter.
