BAINBRIDGE – Y’all come back now, y’hear?

The Bainbridge Spartans put a heapin’ helpin’ of home-style hurtin’ on visiting swim teams from Marysville, Port Angeles, Sehome and Central Kitsap during the 29th annual Spartan Relays at the Bainbridge Aquatics Center.

The Spartans placed first in 16 of 18 varsity and junior varsity events to win the invitational.

BHS totaled 73 points for first place, while Sehome was second with 45, and Port Angeles, third, with 41.

Central Kitsap followed with fourth place (30 points), while fifth place went to Marysville-Pilchuck (10) and Marysville-Getchell finished sixth (9).

The most dominating Spartan performance came in the 200-yard medley relay, where Bainbridge won by almost 10 seconds and had a state 2A qualifying time of 1:58.05. (The state time is 1:58.05.)

Allison Murphy, Ani Duni, Sam Caro and Amanda Comeau took first for the Spartans in the race.

Central Kitsap’s foursome of Lea Avery, Madison Polzin, Gracie Smith and Kelsey Cain was second in 2:07.92.

Sehome’s team of Savanna Schoenecker, Hannah Holmgren, McKenna Sakamoto and Sophie Grambo placed third, finishing in 2:11.50.

In the fan and swimmer favorite of the meet, Bainbridge again retained its title in the inner-tube relay race.

Bainbridge’s speedy squad of Natalie Ackerley, Kate Eckert, Caitlyn Munter and Mikelle Ackerley finished first in 2:14.20.

Sehome claimed second in 2:22.24.
