The Bainbridge boys and girls cross country teams traveled to Port Orchard last weekend and swept their dual meet with North Mason.
The girls prevailed over the Bulldogs, 19-44, while the boys were victorious, 20-39, in the races at Marcus Whitman Middle School.
The girls took four of the five top spots, going 1-3-4-5. Junior Lucy King won the race with a time of 20 minutes, 18.70 seconds, well ahead of Kezlie Thygesen of North Mason, who came in 44 seconds later. Bainbridge senior Cassidy Parr took third in 21:59.70, and she was followed closely by three freshmen — Lily Curtis (22:26.50), Liliana Pohl (22:41.90) and Hailey McCullock (22:55.70). Cate Gleason was the final scoring runner, taking seventh in 23:14.90.
North Mason’s Noah Hasselblad took home the victory in the boys race, but Bainbridge runners occupied the next five spots. Alexander Miller finished second in 17:26.10, followed by Aaron Ramirez (17:59), James Nick Grant (18:59.40), Bodie Strom (19:06.30) and Abe Cole (19:08.80).
Bainbridge hosts the final Olympic League meet Saturday at Battle Point Park. The Spartans run first against Bremerton. The boys run at 10 a.m., followed by the girls at 10:45 a.m.
