The Bainbridge High varsity boys basketball team handily bested the visitors from Lincoln (0-21 overall) to claim a win during the last home game of the regular season Feb. 4.
The final score was 67-36.
The win, plus an unfortunate subsequent loss to Eastside Catholic during the last game of the season (67-45 on Feb. 7, in Seattle) left the island squad with an overall record of 8-13 (5-11 in conference) and the fifth-place spot in the Metro Mountain Division (eighth in Metro overall).
As it was also Senior Night, the Lincoln game saw the island squad’s upperclassmen — Gus Corsetti, Liam Kratzer, and Matthew McCann — recognized by the Spartans’ teammates and fans.
In their first postseason appearance, the Spartans were slated to play Lincoln again, once more in Seattle, on Monday, Feb. 10 as part of the 3A District Qualifier.
A win would earn them a second showing, against Roosevelt, on Tuesday.
