SEATAC – The Bainbridge Spartans drubbed Kennedy Catholic 20-3 in girls varsity lacrosse Tuesday in the season opener for both teams at Sunset Park.
Sonia Olson and Mackenzie Chapman had five goals each to pace the BHS offense.
The outcome was never in doubt. Bainbridge jumped to a 15-0 halftime lead. And after the intermission, the shellacking continued as the Spartans outscored the Lancers 5-3.
Olson finished the night with five goals and two assists, while Chapman also netted five goals.
Olson added two assists and two ground balls to her big night, while Chapman also had two ground balls.
All told, six Spartans scored in the contest.
Ellen Carpenter notched four goals for Bainbridge, and also had two assists.
Teammate Paige Brigham, a two-time all state senior attacker, added two goals, five assists and two ground balls.
Fellow Spartan Robin Hilderman also added a pair of goals and had two assists, one ground ball and three draw controls, and Olivia Peloquin added a goal and four draw controls to Bainbridge’s dominating performance.
Kelly Coffyn finished with three saves for BHS.
The Lancers were led by Hayden Hiner, who finished with two goals, and
Ashely Cusack, who scored Kennedy’s only other goal.
Bainbridge (1-0-0) will play its home opener against Mercer Island (0-0-0) on Wednesday, March 18 at Bainbridge Memorial Stadium. The game starts at 6 p.m.
