Things looked bleak for the Bainbridge Spartans for much of the first half of Wednesday’s home game against the visiting Chief Sealth Seahawks, but the second half was a whole different ballgame.
The girls varsity basketball team fought and clawed their way back into the game and earned a last-minute 52-50 win thanks, in no small part, to perpetual points leader Taylor Tye’s record-breaking performance.
Tye went eight-for-10 from behind the arc, breaking the previous record of seven successful three-pointers in one game, despite running a fever and feeling “nasty.”
The win at home was a much needed boost for the team following a particularly dispiriting loss on the road Friday.
