BAINBRIDGE – The Bainbridge High girls varsity basketball team earned a win in their first game home in several weeks, scoring a 36-35 victory over the visitors from Sequim Saturday, Jan. 14.
“We had a great defensive stop on Sequim’s last possession of the game,” said Spartan Head Coach Henry Guterson. “Grace Carson played great defense on Sequim’s post player, who’d hurt us with 18 points.”
Several Spartans shone on Saturday, the coach added.
“Olivia Wikstrom had a double double with 11 points and 11 rebounds,” he said. “Malia Peato scored 10 points on 5-for-8 from the field.”
The win at home boosted the BHS overall season record to 5-8 (2-7 in conference). The island squad then settled in for a streak of home games, starting with Wednesday night’s bout against Rainier Beach.
The Spartans will next play at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 20 against Chief Sealth.
