KENT – The Spartans picked up three combined wins against Eastlake and an Australian team during the girls varsity volleyball invitational at Kentridge High School.

Bainbridge bounced back from a first-game defeat of 25-18 to edge Eastlake 25-22 in the second.

Next, against Emerald Ridge, the Spartans fell 22-25, 10-25.

Bainbridge fared much better against the visiting team from Australia, and won 25-14, 25-14.

Newport dropped the Spartans in the next round, 25-20, 25-17, and the Spartans were also tested by Eastlake, which won 25-15, 25-15.

Hannah Wagner led the Spartans during the tourney with 36 kills, 21 digs, five blocks and 11 aces.

Riley Kulfan contributed 17 digs and eight blocks for the Spartans during the invitational.
