BAINBRIDGE – The Spartans beat the Wildcats 7-6 in a recent nail-biter in girls fastpitch softball.
Sara Colley singled with two outs in the bottom of the eighth to score Morgan Lassoff to knock off West Seattle in a key Mountain Division game. With the win, Bainbridge took over second place in the division, a game behind Holy Names.
Westside jumped to a three-run lead in the first inning after a three-run homer by Lucy Mead, but Bainbridge immediately answered with two runs to trail by one, 3-2, to close out the inning.
The Spartans plated three more runs in the second inning to claim a 5-3 advantage, and led 6-4 after four innings.
The Wildcats tied the game with two more runs in the top of the sixth, and both teams played scoreless ball until the eighth.
Spartan pitcher Malia Peato picked up her fifth win (5-2).
Kensey Baker went 2-for-5, with two RBIs and two runs. Morgan Lassoff was 2-for-3 with two runs; Maddie Loverich finished 5-for-5 with an RBI and run; and Malia Peato was 3-for-5 with an RBI. Ruby Raymundo was 2-for-4 with a run.
Bainbridge improved to 8-2 overall (6-2 Metro).
