But they came back with a 15-8 fourth game win to take the match.We played much better than on Monday, said coach Julie Miller. We moved a couple of people around and had much better passing. After the tight first game – which ended with kills from Michelle Miller and Kristina Purdom – Miller felt that her team dominated the second game after falling behind 10-4. The Spartans battled back to an 11-11 tie, then Miller and Laura Bartunek each had two kills to put the game away.In the third game, the Spartans were down 6-1 right away and eventually trailed 13-7, but rallied to even the score at 13-13.We came back to tie, which is a good thing, Miller said. We had a chance to win, but we gave up the final points on mistakes.But we came back and dominated the fourth game.She singled out Sarah Frazee and Alison Theis.Sarah had a really good match, she said. She had some good passes and good digs, while Theis, inserted into the back row, also had some great digs.Purdom led the team with 11 kills, while Frazee added nine. Bartunek had seven blocks, Frazee had two aces, and Carlie Miller recorded 14 assists.It was really satisfying to beat a 4A school, Miller said, especially since this was the first time we’d ever played them.The team, now 2-1 for the season, plays in a tournament at White River tournament today, then opens league play on Monday at West Seattle. JVs top South Kitsap – The Spartan JVs defeated South Kitsap 15-10, 15-8, 15-13 on Wednesday.The girls played smart volleyball without making many errors, said coach Shaine Schramling. This team picks up where last year’s squad left off, returning six players. We’re still trying to figure out what positions are the most helpful for the team and the players. We have a lot of girls that can play more than one position well.Haley Wiggins had five kills and two aces, while Anna Schuler added three kills.Colie Belieu and Ashley Bice alternated as setters. “
