Bainbridge commits too many errors in Monday’s match.

The Bainbridge volleyball team had a tough go of it Monday in its Metro League opener, losing 13-25, 21-25 and 16-25 to Holy Names.

The Spartans also lost a non-league contest to 2A North Mason Friday by the scores of 10-25, 25-18, 15-25 and 17-25.

Officially, Bainbridge committed 26 errors, but head coach Julie Miller felt there were way more mistakes made that shouldn’t have been made.

“They were off all night,” she said. “We were struggling with our passing, we were struggling with serve-receive.

“They’re sort of struggling with their identity as a team and that team (Holy Names) know what their style is going to be.”

Bainbridge held its only leads briefly in the first game and had a three point lead in the second game but couldn’t sustain either one. Miller felt that many of the players are still struggling with being the main contributors on the team or getting comfortable playing on varsity.

“It’s kind of new to them as far as the pressure and all that stuff,” she said. “You have to be the person to get the side out and you have to be the person to (contribute) and they’re not used to it yet. The pressure is getting to a few of them.”

Bainbridge (0-1, 2-2) travels to Seattle Prep Wednesday and to North Kitsap on Friday.
