The Kitsap Pumas are holding the last of its invitational tryouts March 26-27 at Battle Point Park.

The tryouts are from 4-7 p.m. on Saturday and 9:30-11:30 a.m. and 1:30 to completion on Sunday. The public is invited to watch and there is no cost.

The club is also holding an advanced player soccer camp March 28-April 1 at Battle Point for children ages 8 through 16.

Club gymnastics

The Bainbridge Island Gymnastics Club turned in solid performances at several meets over the past few weeks.

At the Cascadian Team Challenge in Mountlake Terrace Feb. 25-27, the Level 4 team took third overall. Cate Shelton-Jenck placed sixth in the all-around while Keagan Daniels was seventh and Sydney Johnson 10th in the 6-9-year-old age division.

In the 10-and-up age division, Emma Chee was fourth in the all-around while Alyssa Rasmussen placed fifth, Sarah Jung sixth and Anna Jacobi finished eighth.

The Level 5 team finished fourth overall. Remi Rosencrans took fifth in the 7-9-year-old age division while Morgan Dierickx, Mia Bruzzo and Siqi Talley placed eighth, ninth and 10th, respectively, in the 10-year-old age division.

Level 6 gymnast Jianna Kaufman took fourth in the all-around for the 7-11-year-old age division while Sofia Schuler was fifth. Level 7 gymnast Vicky Camp took sixth in the all-around for the 12-and-up age division while Miller Shor took seventh. Level 8 gymnast Sarah Rice took eighth in the all-around for the 14-and-up age division.

At the 14th annual Rose City Challenge at the Beaverton Hoop YMCA in Beaverton, Ore. March 4-6, the Level 4 girls team placed fourth in the overall standings.

Alicia Keifler took fifth in the all-around in the 7-year-old age division while Shelton-Jenck and Keagan Daniels took 12th and 13th, respectively, in the 8-year-old age division. In the 10-year-old and up age division, Chee was ninth while Maria Gallivan was tenth and Jung was 12th in the all-around.

The Level 5 team took eighth in the team standings, with Rosencrans winning the all-around, the vault and the uneven parallel bars titles in the nine-year-old age division.

Dierckx won a vault title and took third overall in the all-around in the 10-year-old age division.

Mariko Ronan placed eighth in the all-around, finishing in second place in the vault in the 8-year-old division.

Talley and Bruzzo took ninth and 13th, respectively, in the 10-year-old age division.

Kaufman and Schuler took 12th and 15th, respectively, in the Level 6 10-year-old age division.

The Level 7 team took sixth overall. Camp finished fifth in the all-around in the 13-year-old age division while Marielle Summers and Shor took seventh and eighth, respectively, in the all-around.

Level 8 gymnast Chloe Seferos took sixth in the all-around in the 12-year-old age division while Rice took ninth in the all-around for the 14-year-old age division.

For the boys, Level 9 gymnast Bryan Peterson was first in the all-around competition, winning titles in the pommel horse, parallel bars and high bar.

Level 6 gymnast Cole Lewis took first in the rings and placed fourth in the floor and vault. He finished seventh in the all-around. Eric Powell was fifth in the high bar and 11th in the all-around.

Level 5 gymnast Ian Mathews placed ninth on the rings and 12th in the all-around in the 10-year-old age division. Graham Baran-Mickle was first in the pommel horse and rings, and second in the all-around for the 12-and-up age division. Jacob Hendrickson was second in the pommel horse and fourth in the all-around.

At the PJ Classic in Federal Way March 12-13, the girls’ Level 4 team was fifth in the overall standings.

Sydney Johnson and Keifler took second and third, respectively, in the all-around for the 7-year-old age division. In the 8-year-old age division, Shelton-Jenck was fifth in the all-around while Nicole Houmes was 11th and Posie Berry was 13th. Daniels was fifth in the all-around for the 9-year-old age division while Chee was second in the all-around for the 10-and-up age division. Maria Gallivan was third while Sarah Jung was 10th and Anna Jacobi was 14th.

The Level 5 team took fourth. Mariko Ronan was sixth in the all-around in the 8-year-old age division. Rosencrans was second in the all-around and took home gold medals in the vault and bars. Dierickx was fourth, while Talley placed fifth in the all-around for the 10-year-old age division.

Kaufman was sixth in the all-around for the Level 6 11-year-old age division, while Sofia Schuler took eighth.

Seferos took first in the beam and second in the floor en route to a second place finish in the Level 8 12-year-old age division, while Rice placed fifth in the 14-year-old age division.

Rowing

The Bainbridge Island Rowing Club had a good showing at the second annual All-Island Regatta at Waterfront Park March 13. Orcas Rowing Club and Vashon Rowing Club showed up to compete, with 130 rowers across three clubs participating.

The team of coxswain Louise Mataso, Will Gangmark-Strickland, John Hathaway, Gabe Solsing and Eric Seeley won the foursome with coxswain race with a time of 3:30.09. The Spartan foursome of coxswain Tom Steckel, Sean Kelly, Dillon Bryon, Jackson Beall and Luca Lezzi took second in the foursome quad sculls with a time of 3:53.3. The team of Alex Vanadore and Ryan Olson took second in the double sculls with a time of 4:01.6. Sean Kelly took second in the single race with a time of 4:13.9.

The women’s varsity team of Deni Murray, Lena Goss, Ena Nimb, Rachel Schneiderman and coxswain Gen Sawyer took first in the foursome quad sculls, while the team of Isabelle Staff and Isabel Vassiliadis took second in the double sculls.

The team of Taylor Gawlik, Bryn Olason, Makaila O’Brien, Hanna Christoffersen, Larkin Sheldon, Micki Johns, Laurel Major, Katrina Kerrigan and coxswain Maia McNett also took second in the eight with coxswain with a time of 3:31.4. The team of Sunday Starbuck, Hannah Miller, Sara Crowell, Annika Torseth and coxswain Maia McNett finished second in the foursome with coxswain with a time of 4:26.2.

Up next for the rowing team is the Lake Stevens Sculling Regatta on April 16.

Jump rope

The Bainbridge Island Rope Skippers had several members place at the Bainbridge Island Invitational Rope Skipping Tournament March 5.

In the speed events, Matthew Midgett placed second in the one-minute speed male single rope event for the 11-12-year-old age division.

Reilly Woods won the one-minute speed rookie female single rope for the 9-10-year-old age division, while Natalie Bennett and Anna Bjur tied for third in the 11-12 age division. Woods also took second in the rookie three-minute single rope speed, while Bjur was second.

Grace Duffy took second in the one-minute speed single rope for the 9-year-old age division and fourth in the three-minute single rope speed.

In the single rope speed relay, the team of Duffy, Paige Bouma, Serena Johnson and Marina Correa took fourth in the 11-12-year-old age division; the team of Woods, Bjur, Bennett and Claire Dumouche took fifth.

The team of Hannah Sprague, Emy Mather, Anna Warga and Emily Applewhite took third in the 15-17-year-old age division; Sarah Sharman, Abigail Harrison, Amanda Stevenson and Jessica Fay placed third in the 18-and-over age division.

In the double dutch speed relay, the team of Fay, Harrison and Sharman took first in the 15-17-year-old age division; Sprague, Warga and Stevenson placed second in the 18-and-over age division.

In the double dutch pairs speed relay, Applewhite, Fay, Sharman and Harrison won in the 15-17-year-old age division; Stevenson, Sprague, Warga and Mather took third in the 18-and-over age division.

Harrison took second in the three-minute single rope speed event in the 15-17-year-old age division.

In the freestyle events, Midgett took first in the single rope freestyle for the 11-12-year-old age division.

Bennett took first in the rookie single rope freestyle in the 11-12-year-old age division; Woods took second in the rookie single rope freestyle in the 9-10-year-old age division.

Sharman won the single rope freestyle for the 15-17-year-old age division while Warga, Applewhite and  Kelsey Gonwick took second, fourth and fifth respectively. Duffy took second in the 9-year-old age division.

In the single rope pairs freestyle, the duo of Abigail Harrison and Sharman took first in the 15-17-year-old age division. Molly Harrison and Applewhite took second while Fay and Gonwick took third. Sprague and Stevenson took first in the 18-and-over age division.

In the double-dutch single freestyle, the trio of Sprague, Warga and Fay took fourth in the 15-17-year-old age category.

In the double-dutch pairs freestyle category, the team of Applewhite, Molly Harrison, Abigail Harrison and Sharman took first in the 15-17-year-old age category.
