Cross Country
Both teams qualified for district meet at Lower Woodland Thursday.
The girls team took second in the Metro Championships, while the boys took eighth.
Emily Barreca came in second with a time of 19 minutes, 52 seconds, and Isabel Ferguson and Annie Taylor placed fourth and eighth, respectively.
Willie Wenzlau led the boys team with a 29th-place finish.
Football
Bainbridge lost its last regular-season game to Bishop Blanchet 17-14 Saturday. The Spartans will play the third seed from the Metro Sound division in the Metro playoffs at Memorial Stadium Oct. 31.
Golf
Bainbridge’s Carl Jonson edged O’Dea’s Tyler Kato for the one-stroke lead at Harbour Pointe, leading the Spartans to the Sea-King district title. Jonson shot 70 – two under par — with fourth-place Bobby Griffin close behind at 72.
Four of the Spartans’ six players qualified for state. Jonson, Griffin, Jack Sidl and Kyle Schneider will compete in the state tournament in the spring. Sophomore Will Whealdon is an alternate.
Jonson and Griffin also earned first-team all-Metro honors.
Soccer
The Spartans defeated Holy Names 1-0 Tuesday. Wednesday, the Spartans tied with Bishop Blanchet.
The Spartans host Seattle Prep in their final regular season match Monday. Bainbridge (3-3-3 in the Metro, 10-4-3 overall) is currently tied with the Panthers (3-3-3, 10-3-3) for third place in the conference.
If the Spartans win Monday, they will host Ingraham or Chief Sealth in a tiebreak game on Thursday.
Volleyball
The team finished regular-season play with a 25-20, 25-19, 25-19 victory over Lakeside Friday.
The Spartans, who topped the Panthers on the road Wednesday, have qualified for league playoffs as the fifth seed in the Metro Mountain division.
Bainbridge will play the fourth seed from the Metro Sound division Tuesday. Cleveland, Franklin and Rainier Beach will compete in a mini-playoff Monday to determine the third through fifth place seeding in the Metro Sound.
Water Polo
Lex Burgin led the Spartans in a 16-2 victory over Edgebrook Friday. Burgin had three goals, four steals and two assists in the Spartans’ most commanding victory of the season.
