Golf

With a pair of lopsided victories to close out Metro League, the BHS golf teams appear primed for post-season play.

The boys team went undefeated in Metro play, setting a record for team points in Tuesday’s victory over Eastside Catholic, 167-115.

On Wednesday, Carl Jonson shot a five-under 30 at Wing Point Golf & Country Club, leading the Spartans to a 158-91 decision over Bishop Blanchet.

The girls cruised to lopsided victories last week, closing the season at 8-1.

Medalist Anna Bourland led the way for the Spartans, boasting two birdies in both contests.

Both teams will compete in the Metro League tournament Tuesday at Jefferson Park and Thursday at West Seattle.

Hole-in-one

Scott Tyson of Kingston shot his first ace on Sept. 24 at Meadowmeer Golf & Country Club, hitting a 6-iron drive into the cup at the 165-yard No. 8 hole.

Soccer

The Spartans jumped out to an early lead to defeat Kingston 6-1 on Monday. Captain Maddie Ginder scored the match’s first goal in the fifth minute, and Emma Vukic added two scores in the 12th and 13th minutes.

Junior Veronica Saez opened the second half with another score for the Spartans before Kingston got on the board during the 60th minute.

Morgan Moniz capped the victory with two goals in the last four minutes of play.

Swimming

The girls swim and dive team took third place in a 26-school meet on Saturday. The Spartans placed fourth in the 200-meter medley and the 400 freestyle relays.

The Spartans’ freshman swimmers had the best individual performances of the meet. Sarah Grundman took second in the 500 freestyle and Kay Sterner finished third on the 200 freestyle and 10th in the 50 freestyle.

Volleyball

With the loss of several players due to illness, the Spartans dropped both contests this week in successive games.

Without middle blocker Amy Fowler and setter Emily Irish, Bainbridge fell to second-ranked Eastside Catholic 10-25, 13-25, 18-25 on Monday.

Injuries continued to hamper the Spartans in a 18-25, 24-26, 22-25 loss to Holy Names.

The Spartans have not competed with a full roster this season, coach Julie Miller said.

Bainbridge will take on Seattle Prep on the road on Monday.

Winter rates

Meadowmeer Golf Course is now operating on winter rates through Feb. 28.

Twight rates will be charged all day on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays, after noon on the four days of the week.
