Several score state times as Bainbridge beats Kamiak Friday.
In the first meet of the season, several Bainbridge swimmers scored state qualifying times in the Spartans’ 114-68 win over Kamiak last Friday.
The 200 medley relay team of Kristine Valdez, Julie Pendleton, Isabel Willams and Keziah Beall scored a state time of 1:57.58.
Pendleton also scored state qualifying times of 2:17.64 in the 200 individual medley and with her second place finish in the 100 butterfly.
Williams finished first in the 100 butterfly with a state qualifying time and first in the 100 backstroke with a district qualifying time.
Beall scored a district qualifying time in the 500 freestyle.
Beall and Valdez had district qualifying times in the 100 fly.
The 400 freestyle relay team of Beall and Williams, along with Margaret Huisinga and Cassy Charyn, took first in their heat.
Several swimmers had district qualifying times as well.
Anna Wood and Gabby Arens had district times with their first and second place finishes, respectively, in the 200 freestyle.
Wood also qualified in the 500 freestyle while Arens also qualified in the 200 freestyle.
Huisinga also qualified for districts in the 50 freestyle.
Freshman Claire Knox and Kendall Sanson qualified in the 200 individual medley and India Wade qualified in the 100 freestyle with her first place finish as well.
Lisa Heinlen and Selby Knudsen also qualified for districts in the 100 breaststroke.
Shelby Mann took second in the diving portion of the meet, while the 200 freestyle relay took first in the junior varsity heat and second in the varsity heat.
The Spartans host Camas in their first home meet of the season Friday at 3 p.m., then host the annual Spartan Relays Saturday at noon.
Marysville-Pilchuck, Camas, Central Kitsap, Sehome and Bellevue will also be there.
Harriers make tracks in meet
The Bainbridge cross country team got off to a good start in their first meet of the season at the inaugural Tahoma Relays at Lake Wilderness Park in Maple Valley Saturday.
Six different mixed teams took part in the relays, which traversed a 1.8 mile course through trails and grass, water, sand and mud.
The A-team of Ian Shiach, Matt Tetlow, Emily Farrar, Hayley Trageser and Gordon Taylor took fourth overall with a team time of 1:02:42.
The D-team of Josh Larkin, John Murphy, Griffin Dunn, Mary Forbes and Rebecca Sharar finished with a team time of 1:12:37.
The E-team of Nora White, Robin Stewart, Willie Wenzlau, Abby Hartmann and Annie Taylor finished with a time of 1:15:20.
The B-team of Kristin Cox, Stephen Vassiliadis, Adam Nance, Joe Davis and Eli Backer finished with a time of 1:15:29.
The C-team of Sean LaBelle, Tony Hall, Maria Courtney, Max Welch and Annie Lukins finished with a time of 1:16:23.
The F-team of Ryan Vogel, Jamie Huggler, Sophie Thackray, Nick Denney and Nick Swan finished with a time of 1:17:39.
Six Spartans took part in the open run, with Vassiliadis the top Bainbridge finisher with a time of 13:02.
Win McCurdy finished with a time of 14:44 while Welch finished with a time of 14:50.
Zoe Worthington finshed with a time of 17:09, while Sylvia Stellmacher finished with a time of 17:17 and Alison Mathews finished with a time of 17:37.
The Spartans travel to Lincoln Park in Seattle today to take on O’Dea, Holy Names, Chief Sealth and Cleveland in the first Metro League meet of the season.
The women start at 3:40 p.m., while the men start at 4:20 p.m.
JV golfers win first match
Thanks to some nice shooting, the Bainbridge JV boys golf team defeated Mount Si 360-400 in their first meet of the season.
Austin Clement led the way with a five-over 41, while Davis Harrison and Nick Moehring tied for second overall with a 42.
Chris Rose turned in a 43, while Connor Fling and Joe McKenzie each carded a 46.
Collin Lea shot a 49 while Colby Lea rounded out the scoring with a 51.
Mount Si’s highest scorer was Sam Stockstad with a 43.
The varsity boys and girls golf teams open their season Friday when they host Seattle Prep at Meadowmeer at 3 p.m., as their home course at Wing Point is aerating the greens.
