Several islanders come home with titles from a meet in Federal Way.
Bainbridge Island Swim Club members Spencer Alpaugh, Todd McCarthy, Anna Peirano and Kim Williams all claimed championship titles at the Pacific Northwest Long Course Swimming Championships July 26-29 at the King County Aquatics Center in Federal Way.
Williams was the meet’s big winner, taking home the girls’ 10 and under age group high point award for winning all six of her events.
Those included the 50 meter freestyle with a time of 32.23, the 100 free in a time of 1:10.74, the 200 free in a time of 2:31.36, the 50 butterfly in a time of 34.09, the 100 butterfly in a time of 1:22.72 and the 200 IM in a time of 2:50.02.
Peirano won titles in the girls 10 and under 50 breaststroke in a time of 43.70 and the 100 breaststroke in a time of 1:34.43.
She placed second in the 50 butterfly with a time of 35.31, third in the 200 IM with a time of 3:00.75 and sixth in the 100 freestyle with a time of 1:16.48.
The BISC girls 10 and under relay team of Natalie Ackerley, Peirano, Mikelle Ackerley and Williams won the 200 medley relay in a time of 2:38.97.
They placed second in the 200 free relay with a time of 2:22.13.
Alpaugh won the 800 free in the boys 11-12 age group in a time of 10:05.65 and the 1500 free in a time of 19:21.98.
He also finished fifth in the 400 IM in a time of 5:44.13, seventh in the 200 free in a time of 2:26.52 and eighth in the 400 free in a time of 5:07.20.
Todd McCarthy won the 100 backstroke in the boys’ 11-12 age group in a time of 1:12.36 and the 200 backstroke in a time of 2:34.15.
He placed second in the 50 meter backstroke (34.08).
In the girls’ 11–12 age group, Taylor Hebert placed third in the 800 free with a time of 10:33.97, third in the 1500 free with a time of 20.05.71, third in the 400 IM in a time of 5:41.12, fourth in the 400 freestyle with a time of 5:06.30 and seventh in the 100 butterfly in a time of 1:14.56.
Cameo Hlebasko placed sixth in the 800 free in the girls’ 13-14 age group with a time of 10:00.27.
Andrew McCarthy finished fifth in the 800 free in boys’ 13-14 age group with a time of 9:29.11, fifth in the 1500 free with a time of 18:10.78 and eighth in the 400 free with a time of 4:38.02.

Williams and Julie Pendleton were selected to represent Pacific Northwest Swimming at the Western Zone long course meet in Farmington, N.M. Aug. 6-11.
They’ll be swimming against all-star teams from Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, New Mexico, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah and Wyoming.
