The Bainbridge girls swim team had several stellar performances as they took second at the 3A Sea-King District meet Saturday at the Mary Wayte Pool at Mercer Island.

Sarah Grundman won a district title in the 500 freestyle while the 200 freestyle relay team of Julia Griffiths, Cameo Hlebasko, Geneva Levy and Tess Harpur won a title as well. The 400 free relay team of Levy, Hlebasko, Kay Sterner and Grundman also came home with the gold.

Other top finishers for Bainbridge were the 200 medley relay which took third. Levy took third in the 200 freestyle while Sterner placed fifth. In the 200 individual medley Grundman was second, while Anna Peirano was sixth and Hlebasko was ninth.

Griffiths took sixth in the 50 free, while Harpur was third and Peirano was sixth in the 100 butterfly.

Levy was third and Griffiths finished ninth in the 100 free while Sterner was fifth in the 500 free. In the 100 backstroke, Hlebasko was seventh while Emily Sonnenfeld took eighth and Erin Williams was 12th.

In the 100 breaststroke, Harpur took second while Shayla Archer was tenth.

Shannon Engelbrecht was second in the diving competition while Lilia Paul took eighth.

Head coach Greg Colby said it was a fantastic all-around performance from the team.

“We held our position really well,” he said. “We swam a bit flatter than we did yesterday – we were really sharp then – but we’re excited for the wins and happy with second. I’m proud of the whole group.”

The 3A state meet is at the King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way. The preliminaries are at 7 p.m. Friday while the finals start at 5:30 p.m. Saturday.
