This week in Spartan sports gets underway with the Bainbridge girls volleyball team welcoming rival Lakeside to Paski Gymnasium.
Action starts with the C team and junior varsity games at 4:45 p.m. Monday, Sept. 29. The varsity battle is at 6 p.m.
Also Monday, the Bainbridge C/JV football team hosts Bremerton for a game at 5 p.m. at Bainbridge Memorial Stadium.
The Spartans boys water polo team hits the road Monday for a night game at Gig Harbor High School. Warmups start at 7 p.m.
On Tuesday, Sept. 30, the Spartans girls soccer team squares off against West Seattle in another away contest.
The JV matchup is at Georgetown Playfield and the varsity game is at Walt Hundley Playfield; both start at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.
The Bainbridge girls swimming and diving team will host Port Angeles Tuesday at the Bainbridge Island Aquatics Center. The meet begins at 3:30 p.m.
On Wednesday, Oct. 1, the Spartans cross country team catches the boat to Seattle for a meet that features runners from Eastside Catholic, Roosevelt, West Seattle and Eastside Catholic. The races start on Field 2 at Lower Woodland Park, with the men’s race at 3:40 p.m. and the women’s race at 4:10 p.m.
The Spartan golf team is also on the other side of the water Wednesday, and will play Ballard at Jefferson Park Golf Club. Tee time is 3:50 p.m. for the varsity players.
The BHS volleyball team also plays on the road Wednesday, with the C, JV and varsity teams at Bishop Blanchet. The C and JV games start at 4:45 p.m., with varsity action following at 6 p.m.
On Thursday, Oct. 2, the Spartans return home to face South Kitsap in boys water polo. Warmups at the Bainbridge Island Aquatics Center start at 4:45 p.m.
Spartan golfers are also home Thursday, and the team will play Garfield at Wing Point Golf Course starting at 3 p.m.
The Bainbridge C team hosts O’Dea in frosh football at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at Bainbridge Memorial Stadium.
Also Thursday on the Rock, the Spartans girls soccer team will play Garfield at home. The JV game is scheduled for a 4:20 p.m. start, followed by the varsity game at 6:15 p.m., at Memorial Stadium.
On Friday, Oct. 3, the boys water polo team travels to Newport Hills to challenge Newport (Bellevue). Warmups start at 5:30 p.m.
Also Friday, the girls swim team will race against Chief Sealth/West Seattle at Southwest Pool in Seattle. The meet starts at 3:30 p.m.
This week in Spartan sports wraps up Saturday, Oct. 4, with Spartan cross country runners participating in an invitational at Cedarcrest Golf Course in Marysville.
The Spartans C volleyball team is also scheduled to play in a tournament at Olympic High School.
The Spartan football team will also play its second Saturday game of the season, against Lakeside at Lakeside High. Kickoff is at 2 p.m.
