The Spartans girls varsity volleyball team rallied after three early losses in the Sterling Classic at Auburn Mountainview High School to win their third game at the tournament in Auburn Saturday.
Bainbridge High claimed the runner-up spot in the fourth-place bracket; ending the tourney at 1-4.
The Spartans lost to Rogers (2-0), Prairie (2-0) and Blaine (2-0) before stopping Squalicum (2-0).
BHS fell to Lakewood in its last matchup, 2-0.
“It was a really good learning experience for our young varsity team,” noted Spartan Coach Dominique Atherley.
“We played a lot of strong programs and fought hard,” Atherley added. “We became a lot closer as a team and feel like we are making a lot of improvements before we enter our regular season.”
