Two consecutive losses at home closed the fourth week of the baseball season for the Bainbridge High varsity squad, marring an otherwise perfect season record (6-2 overall).
The Spartans were left with a conference record of 3-2, tied with Garfield and West Seattle in fourth place in the Metro standings.
First, on Wednesday, March 27, the island squad was bested 8-6 by the visitors from Seattle Prep (3-3 overall). It was their first loss of the year for BHS.
Then, on Friday, March 29, the Spartans were again defeated 7-6 by Eastside Catholic, a 7-1 team tied with O’Dea and Ballard for second place in Metro.
The Spartans were set to play just one game at home the following week — 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 3, against Roosevelt (4-4 overall) — as the outing slated for Saturday, April 6 against Hazen was canceled. They started out, however, on the road Monday, April 1 against Cleveland (0-7).
The island squad will next play at home at 4 p.m. Monday, April 8 against Lakeside.
