BAINBRIDGE – The Bainbridge Spartans suffered at the claws of a Wildcat insurgency in the second game of this week’s home girls varsity softball doubleheader against West Seattle.

The Wildcats bounced back from a 10-0 first game to win the second, 5-2, Monday at BHS’s fastpitch field.

Lucy Mead and Gabby Wenn both hit home runs for Westside, while the Bainbridge offense was absent after the third.

Westside went in front by two in that fateful inning and lost the lead only once; when the Spartans answered with two runs of their own in the bottom of the inning and tied it at 2-all.

The Wildcats jumped ahead by two in the fifth inning, 4-2, then held Bainbridge scoreless until the end.

Charli Elliott was the winning pitcher for the Wildcats, while Bainbridge hurler Deahna King (3-5) was pegged with the loss.

The loss, the Spartans’ first this year in the Metro League, dropped them to 4-1 (4-5 overall).
