The Bainbridge Island Metro Park & Recreation District has started another running program led by running coach Jim Whiting.
Registration has started for “Spring Running with Jim Whiting.”
The program is for students in grades four through six. The non-competitive program builds fitness, endurance and confidence to complement spring sports and prepare for summer activities.
Whiting will teach basic running skills in a fun and encouraging environment. The program will include short dashes, medium-length runs, step hurdles and games. The workouts will be at Battle Point Park and other island venues.
Whiting is well-known in local running circles. He originated and directs the summer All-Comers Track Meets, Bainbridge Blazers Cross Country Team, and summer and winter cross country fitness programs.
