SEATTLE – A 51-48 win against Holy Names Wednesday, Feb. 8 advanced the Bainbridge High varsity girls basketball team to round two of the postseason in the loser-out Metro League tournament.
“We competed at a high level and really battled,” said BHS Head Coach Henry Guterson, praising the performances of several standout Spartans as well.
“Olivia Wikstrom had 19 points,” he said. “She, at times, really carried us offensively.
“Kiera Havill had six points – all in the fourth quarter,” he added. “Real clutch buckets. Taylor Tye had eight points on 3-for-6 from the field and did a great job defensively.”
Grace Carson put up seven points, as well.
Kendall Havill, the team’s other phenomenal frosh, played the entire game at point guard, the coach said, and, as usual, played with a lot of poise.
“It’s the toughest position to play in the Metro League,” he said.
The Spartans, having earned a second showing, went on to play Lakeside at Roosevelt High the very next night.
